El Spitfire X4650 fue entregado al 54 Escuadrón de la RAF con base en Catterick (Yorkshire), el 25 de octubre de 1940. El 28 de diciembre de 1940, durante un vuelo de entrenamiento, el X4276 y el X4650 colisionan en vuelo a 12.000 pies. El Sgt.Howard Squire consiguió saltar en paracaídas y el avión se estrelló en las orillas del río Leven, en Kirklevington. El registro del X4650 fue dado de baja por la RAF en 1941. En el verano de 1976 gracias a la sequía, salieron a la luz los restos del avión. En 1995 el coleccionista Peter Monk compró los restos y comenzó la restauración del Vickers Supermarine Spitfire I s/n 6S-75531. En marzo de 2012 voló por primera vez tras su restauración, desde Bigging Hill. 

X4650’s first flight was at Eastleigh on the 23rd October 1940. She was issued to 24 M.U. Tern Hill, Shropshire, UK on the 25th October 1940 on charge with 54 Sqn. Catterick, Yorkshire. She was involved in a mid-air collision in December 1940 and struck off charge in June 1941. The wreckage was discovered on the banks of the river Lever in 1976. The remains were acquired by Peter Monk in 1995 and soon after restoration work on her was commenced. First post restoration flight was from Biggin Hill in March 2012.
